Beautiful staircases and hassle-free service

At TwoTwenty, we know staircases can be a real headache for builders and merchants. They’re one of the most complex internal elements of a house, and getting them right can be a time-consuming and stressful process.

So back in 2004, our co-founder Ali Wright set out to give builders and merchants an easy, hassle-free way to get stairs.

Bespoke staircase manufacturer TwoTwenty at the factory

“We started TwoTwenty with a very clear vision,” says Ali. “We didn’t want to be just another staircase manufacturer; we wanted to give our customers a service whereby they could off-load the entire process to us.

“Of course, we still work closely with the builder to make sure we deliver exactly what they need. But ultimately the responsibility for getting the stairs right is on us, not them.”

That was Ali’s vision back then. And it’s still our core value today. It’s what we’re famous for, and it’s why many of our customers won’t order stairs from anyone else.

Since 2004 we’ve supplied stairs to small housebuilders at thousands of sites across the UK. And we’ve become a trusted supplier to all of the UK’s top 10 builders’ merchants, too.

In the last couple of years we’ve won major industry awards, including Best Interior Product at the Housebuilder Product Awards, and the Innovation award at the EEF Future Manufacturing Awards.

What’s more, we’ve committed to growing our business to meet the needs of our customers. We now have two large manufacturing sites in England and a team of 10 technical sales experts located across the country.

“TwoTwenty has grown every single year since 2004,” says Ali. “We’ve increased our customer base, added to our product range, expanded our geographic coverage and moved into bigger premises, all while holding our pricing structure. We now manufacture more than 5,000 flights each year.”

In February 2023, TwoTwenty announced its sale to an employee ownership trust (EOT). “We passionately believe that our colleagues are the thing that makes TwoTwenty successful,” says Ali. “So becoming an EOT secures the perfect future for this business.”
